Sphagnum Portraits (2024-), experimental documentary, 16mm Kodak colour film.

A current work-in-progress, highlighting individuals, organisations, and charities across the UK, engaged in Sphagnum moss and peatland conservation. Commissioned by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme, the film will take the shape of an artist documentary including selected portraits, microscopic footage, landscape shots, and more experimental sequences. The work will be mainly shot on 16mm Kodak colour film as well as some digital sequences.

Sphagnum Portraits will be premiered at the Peatlands, People and Nature conference, hosted by the IUCN UK Peatland Programme in September 2024. The work will subsequently be presented as part of Caroline’s upcoming project Moss: The Story of Sphagnum at Oxford Botanic Garden & Arboretum. In the long term, Sphagnum Portraits will be made available for educational purposes and act as an open resource and learning tool.
